Leon & Noel Prism 36

A seemingly simple quartz watch that you might just have to look at a couple of extra times.

DESIGN

Leon & Noel never wanted to redefine the industry, or provide something new and groundbreaking. They wanted to provide a good, wearable and high quality everyday piece in the D&W category. Personally, I far prefer the Prism 36 to the Daniel Wellingtons. There is a higher sense of purpose behind the design and it’s a lot less bland. Much thanks to the multi-colored hour markers, and the crown at four.

A 36mm case is on the smaller side of what looks good on my wrist. The 20mm lug width helps to increase the footprint of the watch ever so slightly.

MOVEMENT

A simple Swiss quartz movement is a good choice in something like this. You can brag about having a Swiss movement, while not paying a lot for it. Seems to be both precise and reliable thus far.

BUILD QUALITY

Initial impressions of the Prism 36 are mostly positive. There is a decent weight to the case and the fine brushing of the case is without flaws. Sapphire crystal is also a big plus in this price range. Keep in mind that there are one or two small imperfections on the dial. One tiny speck of dust, and what seems to be a slight scratch around six o’clock. Both of these are very difficult to find, and will not be of any significance during everyday wear.

STRAP

You can pick and choose between five different straps. Four high quality leather options and a mesh bracelet. I have tried three of the leather variants and they both look and feel good. The 20mm lug width also means that you won’t have any difficulties finding other options.

X-FACTOR

I think this is much cooler than the watches it competes with. I like that it’s from a smaller nordic brand. The colored hour markers are also important players in setting this watch apart from its competition.
