Medini Celeritas

Medini is the brainchild of Dubai based watch lover Ahsan Merchant. Providing reasonably priced watches, with great design and a solid build quality.

DESIGN
You don't need to be a genius to spot a little bit of Patek in the Celeritas. It's a super classy 38mm dual-subdial chronograph, and I think it looks fantastic. The dial is full of beautiful details and everything about the design is cohesive and well-considered. Could a bit more effort be put in the hands?

MOVEMENT
Seiko VK64 is my definite pick for a chrono in this price range. I much prefer it over a shady Chinese mechanical that might break if you look at it funny. The sudden snapback of the seconds hand is very dramatic, though, and it's not rare to see the minute hand shift very slightly when resetting the chrono. This is a regular feature of the VK64, and nothing to worry about.

BUILD QUALITY
The Celeritas feels very well put together. It's definitely on par, or even above what I'm used to in the price range.

STRAP
The included leather strap feels nice and looks great. You have a choice of several colors when you order on the Medinis website. They will also include a very good silicone strap at no extra cost.

X-FACTOR
Finally a sub-40mm, super classy chrono, that's all the x-factor I need. The unboxing experience is fantastic and provides a kick of X right off the bat.

CONCLUSION
The Celeritas makes very good sense. It looks great, is priced where it should be, and will run for years to come, needing nothing than a new battery once in a while. A grab and go piece for those slightly nicer occasions.
